A trip down memory lane: the rich history of Pullman Eindhoven Cocagne:

Pullman Eindhoven Cocagne, formerly known as Grand Hotel Cocagne and Hotel Dorint Cocagne, is a prominent presence in the center of Eindhoven, located at Vestdijk 47. This modern hotel, built in an American architectural style, is situated right across from the Heuvel Eindhoven shopping center.

Everything started with Philips

The hotel was built on behalf of Philips, with funds from the Philips Pension Fund. It was opened on June 1, 1962, as the Grand Hotel Cocagne by Mayor Witte.

Opulence and luxury with an American flair

At that time, it was unique in Europe due to the opulence and luxury it offered. Cocagne, after all, stands for land of plenty. It was an exemplar of modern architecture with an American flair, something that Mayor Witte felt suited Eindhoven as a growing city. Since Philips owned the hotel, guests of Philips were preferably accommodated there.

In 1984, the hotel had 207 rooms, two restaurants, a bar, eight meeting rooms, and a parking garage. It underwent a modernization in 1987, during which the hotel rooms and interior were revamped.

Dorint makes its entrance…

In 1989, the hotel came into the hands of the Dorint Group, which resulted in the Cocagne name disappearing from the hotel. However, the hotel remained attractive to guests from all over the world. After an impressive renovation in 2001, the name was partially restored when the hotel was renamed Dorint Cocagne Eindhoven.

… Accor takes over

In 2004, Accor took over part of the hotel’s operation and the hotel was renamed Dorint Sofitel Cocagne Eindhoven. In the Netherlands, Accor offers a wide range of hotels, from luxury to budget: Sofitel Legend The Grand, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, ibis hotels, ibis Styles hotels, and ibis budget.

A new brand: Pullman

On July 1, 2007, Accor took over the full operation of the hotel. As a result, the Dorint name disappeared and the hotel was renamed Sofitel Cocagne Eindhoven. From January 1, 2011, the hotel got another name. This time, a changed brand strategy was the reason. The hotel was renamed Pullman Eindhoven Cocagne. This change was accompanied by a renovation, and the hotel became the first Pullman hotel in the Netherlands.

Pullman Eindhoven Cocagne today

The hotel currently has 320 rooms, apartments, and studios, and 18 multifunctional rooms. It also boasts the Vestdijk47 restaurant and bar, and a modern Fit and Spa Lounge with facilities such as an indoor pool, an infrared and Finnish sauna, an experience shower, and a fitness room.

Thanks to its high service standards and the large number of hotel rooms, Pullman Eindhoven Cocagne remains the leading hotel in the south of the Netherlands.
